Ease Hell
A state in Anki where a card's Ease Factor drops so low that the algorithm schedules it for review excessively often, causing study inefficiency.
"Ease Hell" occurs when you repeatedly press "Hard" or "Again" on an Anki card. This lowers the card's Ease Factor (often below 200% or 150%). As a result, the interval between reviews grows very slowly, trapping the user in a cycle of constant reviewing.
Symptoms
- You see the same cards every single day.
- Your daily review count is unmanageably high.
- You feel frustrated and burnt out.
Penziv's Anki Analyzer can detect cards in Ease Hell and suggest corrective actions, such as resetting the card or adjusting interval modifiers.
