Cookie & Storage Policy

Effective Date: March 2026 · Compliant with GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and CCPA/CPRA

1. Overview & Commitment

Penziv ("we", "our", or "us") believes in absolute transparency regarding how data is stored and processed on your device. When you interact with our clinical diagnostic tools, question bank, and medical calculators, we prioritize client-side execution and local persistence to protect your privacy while ensuring seamless performance.

This Cookie and Storage Policy explains how we use cookies, local storage (HTML5 LocalStorage), and third-party tracking scripts, what categories of data are retained, and how you retain total control over your preferences.

Review or Change Your Preferences

You can update your consent settings or opt out of optional tracking at any time.

2. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Cookies allow the site to recognize your browser, maintain security, and remember operational settings.

Local Storage (HTML5 LocalStorage) is a modern web standard that allows web applications to store data directly inside your browser. Unlike traditional cookies, local storage data is never automatically transmitted to servers on every HTTP request, making it significantly faster, lower-bandwidth, and more secure for client-side calculations and offline test caching.

3. Categories of Storage We Use

Strictly Necessary / Essential Storage (Always Active)

These storage elements are essential for Penziv to function. Under Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive, essential storage is exempt from requiring prior consent because it is strictly required to deliver the service explicitly requested by you.

4. Global Privacy Control (GPC) & Do Not Sell / Share

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), third-party advertising cookies may be classified as "selling" or "sharing" personal information.

Penziv automatically recognizes and respects the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal. If your browser transmits a GPC signal, all marketing tracking scripts are automatically blocked by default, fulfilling your statutory right to opt out of cross-context behavioral tracking without requiring manual interaction.

5. How to Control Cookies in Your Browser

In addition to our on-site preference manager, you can manage or block cookies through your browser settings:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection.
  • Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data / Block All Cookies.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.

Please note: Blocking all browser storage will disable essential authentication and require re-authenticating on every visit.
